I play on “both sides of the fence” as an AdWords advertiser and as an AdSense publisher. Much has been made of the recent changes Google just announced on their AdSense Blog. Quick Summary: Instead of being charged (the advertiser) or being rewarded (the publisher) for an “accidental click” (one that is in the “white area” of the ad, it will only occur if the visitor clicks on the Title of the ad or on the listed URL. A lot of people are complaining about the change, but me, I’m fine with it and let me tell you why: 1) As an advertiser I only want to be charged for clicks that are intentional. As a publisher I only want to be paid on clicks that are intentional. Pretty straight forward. 2) My CTR has not measurably decreased. 3) My earnings have not measurably decreased. I feel the biggest complainers are those who are not earning a lot and thus, the reduction of some clicks really impacts their earnings. The new format has been verified live on all the domains I have AdSense running.
